Rally Overview:
John's favorite motorcycle activity was riding Enduros. In that spirit, this is a Time – Speed – Distance Road Rally where your goal is to maintain an “average” speed thru the different sections of the rally. Of course this rally will be on the road, and not in the dirt. We have made this rally easy by including only 2 different Average Speeds. When you are riding within any city limits (or the speed limit signage is less than 55 MPH), the average speed is 30 MPH or to travel 1 mile every 2 minutes. And when you are on a country road or highway (where the speed limit signage is more than 55 MPH) the average speed is 60 MPH or to travel 1 mile every 1 minute.
The Goal is to have everyone arrive in Anamosa before 1:00 where we have planned a catered lunch and Rally Award Ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum. John Young restored a 1933 Brough Superior which is on display. After lunch you can tour the museum and view the collection of over 500 motorcycles and historical exhibits. The Museum closes at 5 PM. Rally-goers are welcome to self-organize dinner plans at one of the local eateries On Sunday, People are free to follow a suggested return route or use their own favorite roads to the Chicagoland Area at their own pace.
